On the 10-th of January Yaron Ben-Ami and Vanya Zhuk play an exciting new take on the old, low-down, downhome blues in Babel.Jerusalem (Shats-4) at 20:00.
The old songs of Will Shade, Leroy Carr, Robert Johnson and Howlin’ Wolf get a loving, expert treatment by two blues veterans, whose love of the real black blues led them to stages all over the world.
Zhuk and Ben-Ami’s paths crossed right onstage, when Zhuk mad Alyiah in 2022, and both Russian and Hebrew were left un-needed as soon as the two started playing the blues together. Zhuk’s Sophisticated, 21st century guitar stylings weave themselves through Ben-Ami’s deep, bold and soulful singing and idiosyncratic playing.
Yaron Ben-Ami, a mainstay of the Israeli blues scene, has been hooked on the blues since age 15, and has been singing and playing his unique brand of Hebrew blues for many years in clubs, festivals and shows in Israel, as well as Europe and North America. Vanya Zhuk travelled all over the world, exploring his musical roots through novel garage-klezmer music, while studiously nourishing his lifelong interest in the real blues.
